Danmari Ltd. is the nonprofit umbrella organization for the Yass Hakoshima Movement Theatre (YHMT) and the NJ Center for Mime (NJCM). YHMT presents performances in the art of mime and movement theatre, throughout the world. How long have you been in business?
We have been in New Jersey for more than 45 years.
What is your primary product or service?
We are presenting, performing and teaching the ancient art of mime and movement theatre.
We teach monthly workshops in our studio , as well as teaching as guest artists in other locations,snuck as universities, colleges, arts centers, schools etc.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was a dancer in Japan, when I saw Marcel Marceau for the first time I became convinced, that I wanted to continue the artform of mime
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are the only professional mime institute in the state of New Jersey. We differ from other institutions in the USA, since our work blends Eastern and Western techniques. We also collaborate with other artforms such as sculpture, painting and music. Therefore our work is a synthesis of all the arts.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one studio in Montclair, nJ , otherwise we tour around the world.
